The Question: How Much to Spend on an Engagement Ring?

The answer to this is a personal decision to be made by the people it affects: the betrothed couple. In many cases, the man still makes the actual purchase. However, the amount paid will impact the joint finances of the future couple.

The term “two months salary” as how much to spend on an engagement ring is an entirely arbitrary statement, invented in part by the industry itself. There is no justification to get into debt to purchase a ring. A large diamond in a costly metal does not symbolize greater love and commitment. People need to consider their priorities and budgets to allot the right amount for this important purchase. There are also things like insurance and costs to maintain an expensive piece of jewelry.

So how much will he spend for an engagement ring? The average costs for an engagement ring is $3,500 to $4,000. The price varies with the size and quality of the diamonds and gems, the type of metal chosen for the setting and the intricacy of the design. You will pay $125 to $500 for a quarter carat or less, set in 10 to 14 carat gold .It will set you back $500 to $750 for a slightly larger stone or possibly an 18 carat gold setting. If you can spend $750 to $1,000 you will get stones between .3 and .5 carats, some with platinum or 18 carat gold setting and possibly AGS/GIA-certified.

At the higher end, you can $1,000 to $2,000 for AGS/GIA-certified, high quality stones between .30 and .57 carats or mid to high quality stones up to .75 carats. For $2,000 to $3,500 for stones from .4 to 1 carat in 14 or 18 carat gold although the 1 carat stones may have some imperfections. Next on the scale at $3,500 to $5,000 you can get a quality 1 carat stones in 18 carat or platinum settings.

No-one should plan on spending more than $5000, unless he is independently wealthy. If your beau finds himself drifting to the higher end of the ring counter, make sure that he is not mistakenly weighing his love for you in carats, or under the influence of a wily salesperson. After all, Richard Burton gave Liz Taylor a 69 carat diamond, which is the size of a golf ball. We all know how that turned out!

Before your fiance or both of you embark to the glittering world of the jewelry store, prepare yourself. Get him to talk to his friends and find out where they got their rings and how much they think he should pay. Decide how much to pay for an engagement ring and stick with the plan. Browse magazines. Window-shop. Check out the internet. Have a girls-night-in and eyeball all of your friend’s rings. Get a good idea on what you want but don’t get fixated on a particular style of ring. You may end up paying too much to fulfill a fantasy.

And if you are starting your marriage with humble resources, you can always choose a ring that matches your current budget and upgrade to something fancier when your ship comes in. In any case, have fun with this purchase. Don’t worry about how much you should spend for your ring! Chances are that whatever you end up with will be perfect as the reflection of your love!

Reach Out and Sell Someone!

I was speaking to the operator of a successful business the other day, asking him how he and his fellow franchisees earn their clients. He mentioned 10 ways: networking, referrals, and advertising are among them.

But one, he said, outperforms the rest: selling by telephone.

Businesspeople who make calls outpace their peers by a wide margin, he said, noting that he is the franchise system’s top performer.

Why aren’t more experienced business people emulating this fellow, using their people skills to meet and greet potential clients by phone? There are several reasons:

1. They’re afraid of real-time rejection.
2. They believe the phone is a tainted tool.
3. They have low frustration tolerance.
4. They think there has to be an easier way!
5. They believe they come across poorly.
6. They believe phoning lacks dignity.
7. They believe their target market is deluged with calls.

8. They don’t have a manageable database.

9. They lack an effective phone presentation.
10. They lack good phone training.

If you look at this list, at least half of the items result from psychological factors. Many people resist phoning because they needlessly beat themselves up and disparage the medium. That’s what items 1-7 are all aboutnegative beliefs and judgments.

Instead of focusing on themselves, businesspeople should attend to the last three items: managing their database, devising an effective phone presentation, and getting good coaching and training. Address these challenges, and the first seven impediments will either go away, or be dramatically minimized.

Let’s discuss these items briefly, and put them into proper perspective.

1. They’re afraid of real-time rejection.

Most of us are rejected silently and indirectly. If we send out a zillion resumes, most will end up in the trash, but we don’t feel that pain, directly. Nor do we hurt if we mail out as many business brochures, which meet the same fate. But when we empower someone to flatly say no, directly in our ear, it feels threatening. Rejection is usually not about usat most it’s about our offer, our value proposition, and how we have communicated it. So, there’s no reason to take it personally. Attend to the real challenge: fix your message and how you’re delivering it. (For a more complete discussion, please see my article, “Thanks For The Rejection!”)

2. They believe the phone is a tainted tool.

As consumers, many of us have been bombarded by calls that have had little value. For years, it made economic sense for giant call centers to spray-and-pray. Now, with the ubiquity of answering devices, caller I.D. and effective anti-telemarketing legislation, these calls have been diminishing, but our negative attitude about them, persists. The phone, as a medium, is alive and well. We need to work on developing the message and the messenger.

3. They have low frustration tolerance.

There is a math-of-success in prospecting and selling. If you make fifty calls, you’ll probably find ten people who will express some interest and be worth pursuing. After sending information to them, and following-up, three may still be interested, and of these, you might close one or two.

I’m just using these numbers as an example, because they point out that fifty tries might earn you one success. Let me tell you one of my favorite war stories about a guy who did much worse than this.

A Houston-based client of mine sells investments to institutions such as colleges and large banks. One of their commission salespeople worked from January through October without earning a sale. Literally, he made thousands upon thousands of calls, to no avail.

Every other salesperson was making at least some money, and a few were doing very well, but he struck out, left and right.

Then, in November, he got his first order of the year. It was so large that it made him a millionaire, on the spot.

He had high frustration tolerance, which is a trait worth developing! (For a fuller discussion, please refer to my audio seminar: “The Law of Large Numbers: How To Make Success Inevitable,” published by Nightingale-Conant.)

4. They think there has to be an easier way!

The other night, at a meeting of business professionals, I was discussing marketing with a consultant. He beamed that he got a client four years after initially meeting him at a mixer. Networking is his favorite way to get business.

I agree, networking can be pleasant but it’s just too unpredictable. Waiting for the phone to ring only seems easy. In my experience, it is harder than proactively selling someone, which permits much greater control and instant feedback.

5. They believe they come across poorly over the phone.

True enough, when you hear certain people over the phone, there’s much less than meets the eye. Their voices may be inherently unpleasant, squeaky or gravelly, or their articulation may be flawed.

But most people don’t suffer from these ills, and even non-radio announcer voices can be enhanced through training, while others can be improved with medical help.

(6) They believe phoning lacks dignity.

Some aristocratic businesspeople feel that phoning is simply too far beneath their social station to be permissible for them to do. They equate it to begging.

All I can say is that the dignity in phoning is equal to the dignity you bring to it. If you sound impressive, and credible, you’ll generally encounter fair treatment.

(7) They believe their target market is deluged with calls.

I’ve been in business over twenty years, and the cold calls I receive today are significantly less than ever before. I suspect fewer people are making business-to-business calls, if only because they don’t know how to penetrate voice mail systems and call screening.

(8) They don’t have a manageable database.

Calling isn’t merely about dialing and smiling. It’s about getting organized to call and being able to capture information about the calls you’ve made.

The first challenge is to get a good list of prospects. Once you have that, you should load it into one of the many inexpensive database programs offered by software sellers.

By tackling these tasks, you’ll be able to be productive and you won’t have the time or interest in wallowing over your rejection rate. You’ll be able to measure it, and improve upon it.

(9) They lack an effective phone presentation.

You need to write, or hire a pro to write a good script.

No matter how glib you are, you should know exactly what you’re going to say to get through screening, to leave a captivating message on voice mail, to greet a real-time human, to credibly introduce yourself, to state your basic offer, to earn a commitment from the listener, to confirm the progress you made in the call, and to identify the next step to come.

Without a script, you’ll ramble, seem disorganized, invert the order of what you say, and hopelessly change your talk from one contact to the next. That way, you’ll be unaware of what’s working, what’s failing, and what you need to change.

A script mustn’t sound stilted or canned, and you need to make yours seem
fresh and spontaneous. But when you do, it will serve you very well.

(10) They lack good phone training.

I had the luxury of being trained by my father, who was superb at making cold calls to develop his advertising, radio, and TV ventures. He’d phone from home, and I’d listen, fascinated by his ability to adjust to different people.

In college, I worked as a full-time collector for a finance company, and then I became top salesperson and a manager at Time-Life Books. Later, with a Ph.D. in Communications, I started training others as a consultant.

I’ve found that some people are “naturals” over the phonebut they’re rare. Most need to be trained and coached, to develop their skills.

But once they have them, they feel as I do: I could land in any place in the world where I speak the language, pick up the phone, and prosper.

Healing Crisis A Natural Part of Body Cleansing

Introduction to A Healing Crisis

An increasing number of people today are trying alternative healing methods to cleanse and detoxify their bodies. Simple methods such as switching to a natural food diet, juicing to increase nutrition, or fasting are used to cleanse the body of stored toxins in the hopes of naturally addressing long-standing symptoms such as chronic headaches, adult acne, allergies or arthritis. More intensive methods may be used to perform cleansing of the body’s elimination organs: colon, kidney and liver. However, many people trying these and other alternative health cleansing methods discontinue them when they experience new symptoms of ill health. Generally, these new symptoms are in actuality not a new disease or malady affecting the body, but rather a healing crisis.

Healing Crisis Defined

A healing crisis is when symptoms from diseases and toxins that are released during a detoxification process manifest themselves. Also known as “Herxheimer Reaction”, a healing crisis occurs when toxins stored in the body are released at a faster rate than can be properly eliminated. The more toxic one’s body is, the more severe the detoxification and the more intense the reaction.

A healing crisis is characterized by a temporary increase in symptoms during a cleansing or detoxification process. Such symptoms may be mild or severe, depending on the body’s original toxicity, but are definitely temporary. They can occur immediately, within several days, or even several weeks of a cleansing program.

Reverse Order

What is not immediately intuitive is that symptoms are experienced in the reverse order of when the body was originally exposed to their cause. This simple explanation may help demonstrate the reason.

Assume that every year you painted your walls a different color. As time went on, you layered color upon color. Finally after 30 years, you found that the newest paint was not sticking properly because layers of paint underneath were cracking and coming off. So you decided to strip all of the paint off the walls and give it a fresh coat of paint. As you started stripping off paint, you saw earlier layers. In the process of cleaning and stripping the walls, you got glimpses of what your walls were like and what they went through in prior years.

Believe it or not, human bodies work in a similar fashion. As bodies store fat, the chemistry of the fat reflects the internal body conditions at the time the fat was stored. Each year, a residue of the viruses, bacteria and toxins you were exposed to were stored in fatty deposits.

Similar to the paint stripping analogy, as a body is cleansed, stored toxins, bacteria, and viruses are released. As they are released, symptoms experienced with the particular malady or event associated with the toxin are re-experienced – albeit in a milder form.

Possible Symptoms

A healing crisis can have a variety of possible symptoms, depending on what the body underwent during the initial toxic encounter. Symptoms can include:

  • muscle cramps or pain
  • arthritic flair ups
  • diarrhea
  • extreme fatigue
  • restlessness
  • headaches
  • insomnia
  • sinus congestion
  • fever
  • skin eruptions
  • strong emotions or mood swings

Recommended Treatment

During a healing crisis, it is important that the cleansing program be continued. Continued cleansing will help the body rid itself of released toxins and diseases forever. Following these simple steps may help to relieve some of the symptoms of the healing crisis.

  • Drinking plenty of fresh water helps the body eliminate released toxins.
  • Increasing fiber intake and taking supplements to cleanse the colon and kidneys will also help to accelerate the elimination of toxins.
  • If fatigued, give the body rest
  • Meditation can help to manage symptoms such as strong emotions and mood swings

Business in the Days of Awe: How to Never Hear a Prospect Objection Again

“How come you charge so much?” Kinda feels like a kick to the stomach, huh? This is a classic “objection” during a sales conversation with a prospective customer, and it’s no fun at all.

Customer objections can be painful and intimidating to deal with. And it doesn’t have to be about price. It could be about anything: “Do you really know what you are doing?” “Does this thing really work?” “How do I know you’ll follow through?”

Wish you never had to hear them again? You don’t.

Sacred spiritual traditions, like the High Holy Days and the month-long fasting of Ramadan, are meant to not only leave you empty, but to drain you of all of your certainty. In the center of deep spiritual practice, you are left with many sincere questions in your heart.

Who am I? What is the silent, longing call that I hear in the middle of the night? Where do I really owe my allegiance? What is my heart crying out for? Profound questions that, when approached sincerely, can transform your life. When the time comes for these questions, you have to let go of your beliefs. If you don’t, they become your prison.

The asking of these questions, dropping all of your defenses about what is right or wrong, what you want or don’t want, is the doorway to freedom. You are no longer trying to force an outcome, but merely seeking the truth.
How you ask the questions in your heart is critical. Are you a journalist, sniffing for scandal, sure you will find the dirt? Or are you a true seeker, allowing yourself to love the questions, because you love the truth more than anything?

A customer only raises objections when they feel at risk. At risk of losing money. At risk of losing time. At risk of looking foolish. At risk of any number of things.

Instead of answers, bring sincere, delighted questions to your prospect, devoid of any attachment to what the answers might be. Be curious and in love to learn more about what they are facing, their hopes and fears and desires in their situation. If you do this, they will feel seen. They will safe.

And they will never object. If they are the very best kind of prospects, they will have questions of their own. That’s what you want, someone who cares enough to question you, so the two of you can form a true collaboration, whether you are selling a simple product that brings more enjoyment to their life, or if you are providing complicated, custom services that transform huge organizations.

Questions: After connection, it’s the second step in a successful sales conversation.

What questions are you asking, and what’s the most important one? Practical steps below in Keys to the Questioning

Keys to Questions

• When you start out a conversation with a prospect, start by asking lots of questions. You want to find out all about their situation. If you help people in pain to feel better, then ask all the questions you can: has this happened before? How did it happen? Have you had it a long time? What’s the pain like? How do you normally deal with the pain.

And, go beyond treating them like a problem. Find the place in your heart that cares about them, and ask larger questions: Tell me about how this pain is affecting your life, your work, your relationships.

• When do you stop asking questions? When you can fully see the future they want, and you can see how what you do can get them there, or how what you do is not right for them at all.

• At this point of clarity, you need to ask the most important question: the pivot question. Some people think that the pivot question shifts the focus from the prospect to you and your business. Not true. The pivot question shifts the focus from the present situation your prospect is facing, to the future where this problem is resolved.

“I can sure see how troubling this pain has been for you- it sounds miserable! (pivot ->) What brought you to talk to me about this? How did you see what I do fitting in with what you want to do about your pain?”

The pivot is an important step, because it elicits an invitation from your prospect that gives you permission to talk about how your business works, and how you can help them. Without that invitation and permission, you are trespassing. With the invitation, you are collaborating.

• They will naturally have questions, too, because they will want to see the same future you are seeing. In general, they will want to be clear on exactly what it looks like to work with you, how much it costs, what exactly their commitment is, and how long it takes.

Questions are second nature to your heart, and the key to a successful sale.

Why Have A Sales Process?

Lots of company’s think of sales process as being a sales technique, such as spin selling, solution selling, or push selling or those kinds of strategies. But in fact, a sales process is completely different than that. A sales process is something that every good company needs to be able to define and master in order to boost their sales performance and accelerate their overall top line growth. Sales process really becomes, by definition, repeatable and scaleable sequence of events that yields to consistent sales results.

Sales process is broken down into a number of different aspects, including what is the selling model. In other words, is your company’s selling model transactional? Is it enterprise? Is in consultative? Those are probably the three most common sales models. In addition to that, the sales process typically defines the actual sales work flow as it relates to movement of prospects through the sales pipeline from prospects to being qualified to being fully developed and then to closing the sale. A sales process will typically provide a work flow which includes a process map and a break down of the definitions of different stages of the sales process as it relates to sales forecasting and probabilities. And typically, these tools are put together and automated into a CRM system, customer relationship management system that will allow a company to actually automate the work flow using CRM tools such as salesforce.com or other leading tools.

So companies that do a good job of defining their sales process and integrating it into their CRM tools realize a number of benefits.

First, they can grow faster.

Second, they can train people and bring them up to speed and get them producing sales a lot more quickly.

Third, the rest of the company’s departments can easily understand be bought in to the sales process and support the sales process, whether it be customer service, whether it be marketing, whether it be operations, finance or human resources.

Another benefit of having a well defined sales process is it makes it very easy for you to develop matrix both in terms of activity and results that allow you to measure your sales people to ensure that they are producing the results that you’re looking for. It also helps you to further define the accountabilities related to the sales process and make it easier to develop a sales performance management system.

Good sales performance management is based upon holding sales people accountable. Building a sales performance management system is the key to supporting a scaleable sales process that’s repeatable and also defining clear expectations with your sales people and managing them to those expectations. A sales performance management system consists of a number of different components which companies need to build in order to be successful at managing their sales people and achieving the desired sales results that they’re looking for.

What Should Be In Your Sales Process Matrix?
Sales process typically does include a complete breakdown and often times a matrix that will actually describe the following:

1) What is the definition of the different types of prospects and customers that you’re targeting?

2) What are the actual steps in the sales process that need to be followed by the sales team?

3) What are the goals at each step or each stage of the sales process in terms of advancing the sale?

4) What are the tools that are used to support that sales process at that point? It could be marketing collateral, could be lead generation using internet marketing, could be outbound telesales, could be direct mail, could be sales presentations or product demonstrations, all of those things are sales tools that get integrated with the sales process and used as appropriate at different stages in order to advance the sale.

Next in your sales process matrix typically would be a description of what the timing and delay is for each of the different stages and what follow-up items are being taken place at each stage of advancing the sale as well.

So a good sales process map often includes a matrix with an actual description breakdown and definitions of the different stages of the sale and what steps are being taken and what tools are being used. It also typically will include a sales process map that becomes a logic diagram to show exactly how the work flow looks. And then typically once a sales process is modeled properly and de-bugged it will be automated using CRM tools such as salesforce.com to actually automate all the different steps that take place in the sale and to provide repeatable and scaleable process that can be rolled out to across a large number of sales people.

Many companies don’t understand the importance of having a well defined sales process as a basis for their success. As a result of that, they leave selling up to individuals who they bring on to their team and expect them to sell however they sell without following a company’s particular set of rules or disciplines. This can lead to stunted growth, stagnant sales and too much dependency on the individual that’s hired into the sales job and not enough dependency on the process, which in more professionalized firms is well documented and defined and allows a company to easily hire people in and train them to the process.

insanity

My mindless visions are coming to life shrouding me with a cloud of insanity monsters and creatures dwelling deep within my mind they awaken and come forth stalking, haunting, waiting for me to reach total insanity here it comes the point of disaster in which these monsters feed they grow strong with every declining step towards the point of misery, insecurity, loneliness my own level of monstrosity it has arrived insanity it’s better than i thought things are clear as an un-muddied lake clear as an azure sky of deepest summer life with these monsters is perfect, clear, people live in harmony when you life a life of insanity.

http://www.originalpoetry.com/insanity_3

Insanity is the generic term for all such diseases; lunacy has now an equal extent of meaning, though once used to denote periodical insanity; madness has the same extent, though originally referring to the rage created by the disease; derangement, alienation, are popular terms for insanity; delirium, mania, and frenzy denote excited states of the disease; dementia denotes the loss of mental power by this means; monomania is insanity upon a single subject.
Such a mental condition, as, either from the existence of delusions, or from incapacity to distinguish between right and wrong, with regard to any matter under action, does away with individual responsibility

Herbs and Natural Cures

Hello folks. Does anybody out there know anything about herbs and natural cures? I am no great pro but even I have picked up some pointers over the years.

Take lavender! I love lavender. Lavender is so easy to plant and look after, flourishes year after year, has a lovely, soothing scent, is known to induce relaxation, and keeps the moths away. I have a lavender plant on my kitchen window sill and sachets of lavender in my cupboards.

There are many methods to learn about herbal gardening. I personally have plenty of herbal gardening books on hand. You can exchange information with fellow gardeners or plant nursery salespersons too. And don’t forget elderly people. They have a wealth of information about herbs and natural cures.

Just the other day I mentioned to an elderly friend that my hair has been losing its luster. “No problem,” she said. “Take one egg yolk, olive oil, juice of one lemon. Mix together in a bowl. Using your fingers or a basting brush, rub or brush the mixture thoroughly onto your scalp, around the hair roots, and onto the hair. Wrap a towel around your hair for two hours, then rinse in lukewarm water and shampoo as usual”.

I followed her instructions. Sure enough, my hair has a renewed luster and more body than it has had in a long time.

You can learn about natural cures by improvising with things found at home. Did you ever feel like your face was an elastic mask? I did. I desperately needed something to soothe and moisturize my skin. Yogurt was the perfect solution. After rubbing some on my face and letting it soak in I felt and looked twenty years younger.

Natural cures are my idea of fun!

Fitness and Health

Fitness and health have been closely related ever since fitness was first defined, because this sport involves good physical shape built on good state of health. The state of health of the people who practice various sports is always in attention of the instructors.

However, there are numerous sports which are rather spectacular, but practicing them exposes the sportsmen to particular risks. Such kind of problems can appear even in the sports for amateurs; there is, of course, specific pathology for every sport. Since the body is prone to different health problems, a factor which can provoke them is the volume and intensity of training. Long distance running and jogging are extremely popular forms of training.A frequent health problem in tennis is epycondylitis or ‘the tennis player’s elbow’. Weightlifting can lead to varicous veins or high blood pressure.

Fitness tries to make every exercise useful for health and body esthetics. The type of training that is recommended is the complex one, including aerobic and anaerobic exercises.

While doing aerobic exercises, the body satisfies its need of oxygen during effort. We are talking here about all types of resistance efforts, like long distance running, ski, rowing, fast walking, swimming, cycling, speed skating, etc. The consequences of these efforts are visible, first of all, at a cardiovascular and pulmonary level. This type of exercises are the most effective in burning calories and this is why they can easily burn fat tissue, as long as they last more than 40-45 minutes without stopping. The energetic support of these efforts comes from the fat acids which are mobilized from the adipose tissue.

The efforts of anaerobic type are responsible for increasing force and muscular mass and for bone resistance. During this type of short and intensive effort the body cannot satisfy the need of oxygen. What happens is the so-called ‘oxygen duty’, recovered in the breaks between the efforts. The most typical example is the break between two series of exercises meant to work the same muscle.

The effectiveness of fitness trainings is closely related to their weekly practice. There are a minimum number of trainings necessary for visible effects.

For the programs of anaerobic type (force) the experts say that two trainings a week are necessary, each of 30-45 minutes. During these sessions, the whole body is trained every time.

In the case of aerobic training (resistance), their weekly frequency must be increased to three, each between 20 and 60 minutes.

Both types of training must be continued uninterruptedly for at least two or three months. After this period, a one-week active break is recommended. In this time the person must make lighter efforts like walking and gymnastics, the purpose being now recovery and relaxation.

Starting from this minimum frequency, any supplementary training will make progress come sooner, as long as you avoid over-training or over-exerting. Deciding the optimum number of trainings, their volume and intensity depends a lot on the particularities and the possibilities of the person who practices the sport.

Energy Healing

WHAT IS ENERGY HEALING?

The laying on of hands, also known as energy healing, energy therapy, bioenergy therapy, biofield therapy and energy work, promotes healing by enhancing the energy flow and correcting disturbances in the human aura that surrounds the body. This improvement of the flow of aura’s energy supports the self-healing capacity of the body.

The laying on of hands is an old healing modality that is making its way back into our lives in a revival of ancient understandings. All around the world people is learning how to sense energy, move their energy and they are rediscovering energy healing therapies.

The application of energy fields for healing, implies the generation of a magnetic field strong enough to produce changes in the body without harming it, and that field should be refined enough to treat specific illness, because treating the aura with a large frequency spectrum is not enough.

Vibrational healing or the laying on of hands can restore people to a state of health and harmony in four planes:

physically

mentally

emotionally

and spiritually

IS THERE ANY OTHER KIND OF HEALING?

No there is not!

Everything that exists is energy, so every healing involves energy although most healing methods are only focused on the physical level.

Energy healing works over the energetic level of our being, and from there it influences the physical, emotional, mental and the spiritual level.

Energy healing is then a holistic healing method, because it addresses the energy of which the body mind and emotions are composed, complementing and supporting the other healing methods.

the vibrational healers treat people by using pure energy that affects the energetic system acting as a type of wave-guide to redirect or realign the affected subtle energies.

ENERGY HEALING AND ENERGY MEDICINE

Energy healing works through the laying on of hands, and is only part of a wider field called Energy Medicine that uses crystals, herbs, sound or mind control.

All of them work over vibratory patterns which influence the energetic patters at work in the physiology

Some healers like to employ crystals or other tools to produce energy healing, but energy healing if more often produced by the interaction of the healer with the healee in the energetic level. (Excellent references on energy medicine are Richard Gerber’s Vibrational Medicine and James Oschman’s Energy Medicine.)

THE HUMAN ENERGY FIELDS

The physical body that we see in a mirror is not the only one that we have, we also have an energy field thaT surrounds us named The Aura. The physical body is our most dense expression of energy, and we also have many other bodies sometimes called The subtle bodies

There are many different descriptions of our aura, but most of them describe it as having different layers.

There are also other important energy centers named The chakras where important exchanges of energy take place and that are also influenced by the energy healing.

WHAT SCIENCE SAYS ABOUT THE ENERGY HEALING

On the western civilization knowledge is acquired through the “trial and error method” or the “scientific method” but this is not the only way of gaining knowledge or maybe I should say that the “scientific method” only gains knowledge about through the information that our senses provide us, but there are other ways of gaining knowledge that eastern civilization believe to be equally valid.

“Scientific method” can only prove what we can perceive through one or more of our five senses (“seeing is believing” we say), but there are those who are able to perceive through higher sense perception

But it has also being found that the observer affects the object of observation through the act of observing, so there must be something that happens in some other kind of energy field that our scientific do not accept as real by now.

And modern science is making every day discoveries about new healing methods that are consistent with the idea of influencing the human energy field with other energies (sound, heat, etc.)

Undoubtedly very few scientists will accept the idea of energy healing, but there are beginning to be some researches that indicate that healing does have an effect. Herewith I will mention only one, but you can read about the others below in the References.

A SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENT

The following experiment proved that therapists practicing non-contact healing methods are able to induce significant changes in the energy field of blindfolded test subjects.

An individual was isolated behind a divider and a conductivity (or Kirlian) image was taken of his finger.

The practitioner drew a card on which the word “brighter” was written (he was the only one in the room to see the card), then he proceeded to move his hands around the test subject without touching him, in attempt to make the conductivity image of the test subject brighter

Then another image was taken after 3 minutes of attempting to increase conductivity.

The for the next three minutes the practitioner moved his hands around the test subject in an attempt to make the conductivity image of the text subject less bright, and another photo was taken.

The photos clearly indicated that the practitioner successfully increased the energy when he attempted to do it, and then decreased the brightness of the test subject conductivity without touching him when he was instructed to do so.

The brighter and smoother images observed after the experiment not only indicated that the test subject’s energy changed, but also that an effective therapy was administered.

WHAT DOES THE SCIENCE KNOW ABOUT THE HUMAN BODY’S ENERGY FIELDS?

These energy fields are quite measurable and there is strong evidence that known biophysical mechanisms can account for the observed phenomena.

All of us know that the human body has some electric fields that can be measured with techniques as EMG, EEG and EKG, ant that electrical signals are produced and received by the body.

In 1963 at Syracuce University it was also reported the first measurement of the magnetic field of the human heart, and in 1971 a superconducting magnetometer named SQUID was used to measure the magnetic field of the Brain.

In 1991 Seto and colleagues measured the magnetic field between the hands of healers and was established to be less than 1% or the hearts magnetic field. And if the heart magnetic field can regulate biological functions it is certainly feasible that the magnetic field coming out from the hands of the healers might also influence biological functions.

In 1989 Del Guiudice et al verified the existence of the Josephson junction, a superconducting semiconductor present in the living tissue

In 1993 McCraty discovered that the DNA acts as a superconducting magnetic field detector, able through the Hall effect to detect and produce magnetic signals, and to act as a signal amplifier.

Thus the modern science has discovered many mechanisms by which it is possible for healers to produce magnetic and electric healing energy to influence the patients. (those who see more information about this matter can read “The Scientific Basis of Energy Medicine” by James L. Oschman, 1998).

WHAT DOES THE HEALEE FEEL

After an energy healing session, the healee can experience significant and substantial shifts in mind, body and spirit.

He can either experience a reduction or elimination of the symptoms, or a sense of love, acceptance and deep letting go.
